Ming grew up in the coastal city of Qingdao, China, where mountains meet the sea. Besides the city’s beautiful natural scenery, it also features strong German architectural influences, a legacy of its colonial history. As a child, Ming enjoyed swimming in the ocean, lingering in parks and gardens, and watching the new parts of the city develop and blend with the older European-style historic buildings.
Upon beginning her studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Ming explored environmental science, art, and horticulture before ultimately deciding to pursue landscape architecture, a discipline that brings all of her interests together. While in school, she spent time abroad in the United Kingdom as an exchange student, where she was deeply influenced by the naturalistic planting style of Piet Oudolf. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she continued her education at Cornell University, receiving a master’s degree in landscape architecture. The beautiful gorges, lakes, and vibrant fall colors of Ithaca left her with memories she holds close and dear to her heart.
After graduation, Ming began her career in California, working on a diverse range of projects including resorts, hotels, multi-family, and single-family residential designs. Her work there often dealt with challenging topographic conditions, high fire risks, and seasonal drought—conditions typical of the region. She focused on building her expertise in sustainable design and constructability, and became a licensed landscape architect in California.
Ming joined Raymond Jungles in 2025 and is excited about the lush tropical environment, the complexity of the coastal ecosystems, and the vibrant urban texture of Miami.
In her free time, Ming enjoys painting, reading, playing the bass, and indoor bouldering. After deciding to join the company, she was thrilled that several of her large-format paintings, which could not fit in her luggage, were sold before her relocation to Florida.
