Born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in Miami, FL, Alejandra developed a deep connection to nature. From the Andes mountains to the Florida Everglades, nature has always served as a source of inspiration. Her passion for design and nature led her to study industrial design and environmental studies at Parsons School of Design in New York. Through mentorship from her professors and research assistantships, she discovered her passion of working with design at the intersection of nature and the urban environment.
Alejandra pursued a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture + Urbanism at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. During her time in California, Alejandra explored a diverse range of landscapes and ecologies, with a particular focus on integrating nature into urban environments. Her interests center on rewilding cities and creating more equitable spaces for both people and nature. While completing her graduate studies, Alejandra heavily focused on bio-material research and their applications to the field of landscape architecture. Research sits at the core of her practice and methodology and she hopes to integrate this in her professional career.
Alejandra returns to RJI after completing two summer internships at the firm during her graduate studies. Alejandra is excited to explore Southern Florida and tropical ecologies with a new appreciation and approach. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and going to the beach. She also loves to travel, read, and explore new landscapes with her friends and family.
